The Pursuit of Happiness - San Francisco

Thursday, December 11th, 2008

The movie is “inspired by a true story,” that of Chris Gardner, who was among San Francisco’s working homeless in the early ’80s and managed to pull himself and his young son up by the bootstraps. “Inspired by” is an interesting phrase because the movie is more inspiring than inspired.

The name of the film “The Pursuit of Happyness” misspelled “happyness” by deliberate intention, and undoubtedly, in which the most philosophical sentence is “There’s no ‘y’(why )in happiness.”

Throughout the movie we see Chris schlepping along with one of the machines seemingly glued to his arm. He needs to sell two scanners a month to pay the rent and for the day care of his son at a substandard facility that explains the misspelled “Happyness.” His product, as they say in outside sales, is not moving. However, Chris has that dream. Film Enchanted directed by Kevin Lima

Tuesday, December 9th, 2008

These days, I have watched the film Enchanted directed by Kevin Lima. The greatest feature of the film is the combination of the reality and fairy tales. The film is shooted through animation and real scene. Giselle, Robert(Giselle’s true love), Prince Edward, and Queen Marissa(the witch ) are the leading roles.
Enchanted tells a story about true love’s kiss. The heroine, Giselle, makes an acquaintance with Prince Edward through her beautiful voice and then they are going to marry. Unfortunately , Queen Marissa , Prince Edward’s step mother spares no effort to prevent the marriage. Naturally, Giselle is pushed into the enchanted abyss by Queen Marissa. Surprisingly, Giselle is thrust into New York ,a city that people think of as without true and romantic love. (more…)

Quantum of Solace

Saturday, November 8th, 2008

It didn’t matter that I had missed its premiere at midnight on 5th November, which would cost me more and effect my health. However, I couldn’t wait any longer, and yesterday I watched it, the Quantum of Solace, the 22th James Bond movie.

Before I made that decision, I had read some reviews on the internet, some of which thought it has been better than the Casino Royale. But to be honestly, I felt disappointed when I walked out of Poly movie theater. Bond girl was still charming but a romantic kiss didn’t appear, fighting scene was more spectacular but scenarios was a little disordered. Dialogue was fewer, gadget was superfluous, length was the shorest, and “Bond, James Bond.”, the most well-known line was crossed out.
Was it still Jame Bond movie with original taste and flavour? (more…)
