September 3rd, 2008 marked the opening of the highly anticipated Comme des Garcons x Louis Vuitton Pop-up Store in Tokyo, Japan where Japanese fashion editors and local celebrities were the first to purchase Rei Kawakubo’s designs for Louis Vuitton. The new Pop-up shop is situated in the fashion district of Aoyama and according to wwd, the interiors are true to Comme des Gar?ons’ spare aesthetic, with gray concrete walls and an exposed metal staircase. Steel boxes coated in LV-logo gold flock are mounted on the walls of the lower level. Prices range from 78,750 YEN to 194,250 YEN depending on the item. The store will be open to the public on September 4th, 2008 and will be around for three months.

A truck bomb exploded in a crowded outdoor market in northern Baghdad today. According to police at least 20 people were killed and dozens more were wounded. Also today authorities report another six US troops were killed in Iraq in recent days.

Hundreds of people gathered at London’s King’s Cross subway station today to mark the second anniversary of the suicide bombings of the city’s transit system. NPR’s Jackie Northam reports.
The memorial at King’s Cross station began at precisely 8:47 in the morning, the same time the first bomb exploded two years ago in one of London’s underground trains. Three more suicide bombers struck in rapid succession on the city’s transit system leaving 52 people dead. In that time Britain has vastly increased its counter-terrorism efforts, but it was a combination of luck and bumbling by potential suicide bombers that prevented another series of attacks last weekend. 8 suspects have been arrested in those failed terror plots. One of them Bilal Abdullah appeared in a London courtroom and was charged with conspiracy to cause explosions. There was heavy security in the courtroom. There was also a stepped-up police presence in the city for a series of events including the start of the Tour de France, the Wimbledon Tennis Finals and the Live Earth concert. I stayed at Imperial Hotel for 5 nights in April and it was a lovely experience. The hotel staff were very polite and always there to attend to me. They had many restaurants to satisfy different tastes and needs.You could easily exchange your unused meal coupons for chocolates and other goodies. The rooms were very clean with all the amenities

The food at Les Saisons has to be both the best in Japan - beyond description - and the costliest! Wandering around you discover hidden pockets of Frank Lloyd Wright design. The employees would do anything for you at this hotel, and seem happy to do it. The service was excellent. The room price is not cheap but not much more than in big cities in the US.
