using cheap lapel mikes in hairline or behind ears

Friday, November 6th, 2009

I’m working on a local community theater production of “My Fair Lady” and we have to mike the two leads (Doolittle and Higgins). We don’t have any decent mikes to go over the ears, so I have to use a pair of wireless lavaliere mikes. The capsules are sort of clunky and hard to hide, so we’ve put Eliza’s mike just above her ear, and Henry’s under his collar, just peeking out the front.

The sound is acceptable, but tonality is not particularly nice.

Does anyone have any tips on anything I could try to get better high end response (4-16k)?

Soundcraft SI Series Used one?

Thursday, October 29th, 2009

I think the Si is a very good sounding desk.It is easy for people unfamiliar with to figure out in 10 minutes max. This summer I spent several weeks with one of the Si3’s had to mix very different styles it worked very well. We also had a lot of guys thrown on it with little or no notice out of 16 one could not work around it not being a digi design he mixed more with his eyes than ears.Even though as of now it is not plug in friendly the comps are DBX , the Gates and EQ’s are BSS and the effects are Lexicon In my opinion that is a better start point than any other desk at the same cost point. The desk is well finished runs cool also very easy to get around on I have spec’d one for our fourth theater on campus they also just added a Si1 to the list (more…)

Ford Mustang Manual and iPhone and Blackberry

Tuesday, October 6th, 2009

I worked with someone who had a car kit. It was a classic Mercedes, Mustang manual rack required.

I was impressed very satisfied with the availability and price for this. Obviously, many construction companies using this rack kit Ford. Who would have thought that the 70 Mustang II rack and pinion is still so popular?

Best new car parts site I found? Reality found on my iPhone. Car Parts Warehouse have their new car replacing Mobile website. Great site to check a large collection of auto parts. Best of all, easy to navigate on your iPhone or Blackberrry.
No more long delays in taking or difficulties in trying to read.

The question is, is the future of car parts to buy? The answer is little. Nobody gives the Office for the iPhone, but many users are moving. Until he fell back on the LCD, this is an important place in automotive repair. We have scored some of those places in case of emergency.

Especially when somewhere, then it is the beaches are very useful. Trying to find a drive shaft or belt on the side of the street to demand from these users.

Anyone out there another good site mobiel auto parts?

Mic Popping

Thursday, September 17th, 2009

Recently I did a union gig for a corporate show. I was the A2 and I didn’t really know the A1 but he was having a good deal of problems with his podium mics popping. He fiddled around in his rack for a bit (he had an analogue rig) and a few moments later he had quite effectively cancelled out all of the popping. When I inquired what he had done to achieve this he said he put a limiter on them. Unfortunately that was all I could get out of him. So I’m wondering if any of ya’all know this technique or have any other tricks for cleaning up a popping mic?

Cheers
