The easy part of the gig is the gig itself

This is an excellent example of what ” The assholes at the shop ” really deal with. Far to often many of us including myself overlook the incredible amount of behind the scenes work involved just to land the show. For all the hours we are on site you can pretty much bank that at least as much and likely much more has gone into landing a gig. In my opinion the easy part of the gig is the gig itself. If you compare what the rider demands to what the budget affords you begin to understand the true complexity of this business.

So before you get upset because you don’t have every single thing you wish you had, or before a visiting engineer or PM, LD, etc. starts to bitch and moan about what ” The assholes at the shop ” did or did not send remember without their expertise you, them, and the audience likely would not have a show to begin with.

It takes a team from start to finish, we seldom are able to demand and get, or cost effectively supply what is asked. Once you fully understand that you begin to appreciate what a small company faces, and then you see what they have accomplished by keeping their doors open and employees checks coming.

Finally don’t for a minute think that the guy’s at Clair, Eighth Day, etc. don’t face the same obstacles, they do, the placement of the decimal point is the only difference.
