In recent years, almost each hotel and agency has made advertisement in order to increase the living rate of their hotel and agency. Most of these advertisements are similar with each other. As a result, the customers are not interested in hotels because of the similar advertisements. So I support that to be successful in advertising, hotels and agencies should be willing to be original and must dare to be different. I will outline and discuss my understanding of this statement.
As we all know, the three main purposes of advertising are informing, persuading and reinforcing. The hotels and agencies want to improve their celebrity rating through advertising and get more revenue.
Advertising that offers basic information about the company and the products or services it offers, is perhaps most important at the early stages of a company’s, hotel’s or restaurant’s life cycle.
Advertising that persuades is often considered to be the main form of advertising. Once an awareness of businesses has been created through informative advertising, specific benefits should be emphasized to tell your potential customers why they should use your business in preference to your competitors.
Advertising that reinforces existing positive attitudes tells the customers that you are still able to provide the same degree of service and satisfaction as ever.
Sometimes people are more likely to read an advertisement for a restaurant or hotel they already use than one about another hotel or restaurant. They read the advertisement because they want their existing attitudes reinforced.
Every hotel and restaurant should have its own characters and something which is different from others. At the same time, we should introduce the hotel or restaurant through the advertisement especially the characters which is different from others in order to let the customers know the hotel and restaurant. If they are interested in these characters, they will come. On the other side, we should also use another way which is different from other hotels and restaurants to make advertisements. Most hotels and restaurants use the normal way to make advertisements. So many people are tired with this type of advertisement. If we want more customers to come our hotel and restaurant, we can use a special way to make advertisement. We can also give customers some concessions and send them some coupons so as to make them come again.
The advertisement of a hotel or a restaurant will instead of the image、attitude、spirit and service of this hotel and restaurant. We should put our image、attitude、spirit and service into the advertisement and show the concept of our service to customers and give them confidence to expend in our hotel or restaurant. Thus we can increase the living rate of the hotel and agency and the food and beverage revenue.
