Reading of Cat In The Rain

I read Hamingwey’s short novel, Cat In The Rain yesterday. It seemed the athor wanted to say that the marriage gap limited the wife’s independence, freedom.

The poor kitty in the cold rain, just like the woman in a loveless family. Her husband didn’t give her enough care, even neglect her wantings. There was also a constrast between the husband and the hotel keeper. The woman’s husband didn’t care about her, in response to her asking, he just replied carelessly. When the hotel keeper saw the wife looking for the poor kitty, he send her maid to hold an umbrella over her shoulder, so the wife won’t be got wet in the bitter rain. The woman felt important and supreme in the presence of the hotel keeper, but in the face of her husband she was too small not to arouse her husband’s warm attention.what i want to say is that there is a gap between the couple. The husband can not understand his wife. They would better get a divource otherwise the wife will never get her indepence and freedom. And I also think it is the husband who has caused the marriage, because he doesn’t love his wife no longer, doesn’t care about her no longer.(we can deduce this infromation easily from the passage)
