4 tips for ice cream

Posted by Yuka as Famous

Last week we posted an update about Shape magazine’s feature of the new Round Mint Ice Cream Sandwiches as the “Perfectly Portioned Freezer Treat.” We definitely have ice cream on the brain since the official start of summer is getting closer! According to the United States Department of Agriculture, in 2003 the United States produced about 1.4 billion gallons of ice cream, or about 20 quarts per person, more than any other country in the world.

Here are some of our favorite ice cream tips and tricks.

Never eat ice cream straight from the tub. Not only will it annoy the people you share a freezer with, but it’ll make it pretty much impossible to keep track of portions. Designate a cute personal-sized dessert bowl as your go-to ice cream dish.

PAUL ON FOX NEWS RISING

Posted by Yuka as Famous

Paul Stanley was in Charlotte for his art exhibit, and stopped by the Bahakel Communications Fox affiliate during its Fox News Rising program. As the show ended at 8 a.m., so too did analog broadcasting for WCCB. The anchors counted down from 10, and Stanley flipped the switch. “It was historic,” Stanley told (digital) viewers seconds later.

‘TOUCHING THE SOUL’ CD

Posted by Yuka as songs

Wonderful work from Karen Gibson Roc — part singer, part poet — with a style that’s as hip as you might expect from such a blend! Karen’s approach is a bit like that of Ursula Rucker, although somewhat warmer overall — deeply personal in its lyrical content, and delivered over soulful backings that are heavy on keyboards, and a bit less so on beats — a setting that’s as rich in sound as Karen’s themes, often with a funky undercurrent that nods back towards hip soul poetry records of the 70s! Titles include “Some Other Place”, “Looking For The Light”, “Painted Room”, “Stranger Are The Days”, “It’s Time For Less Talk”, and “Live Awake”.

Oh the irony…
(Credit: Dan Ackerman/CNET)

Although we have to wait until next week’s show to hear of Dan’s possible escapades with McLovin’ and company, along with his (enviable) hands-on experiences, at this year’s E3 event in Los Angeles, that doesn’t stop us from giving our take on what went down. Read the rest of this entry »
